Essential oils are powerful aphrodisiacs that are bound to heat things up in the bedroom. Keen to get oily?

Think of your favourite perfumes that you spritz prior to a hot date night or even the smell of roses and exotic chocolates that make you think of sexy times with someone tall, dark and handsome.

It’s the essential oils present in your perfumes, lotions, chocolates and potions with aphrodisiac oils like Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood and rose that make you think of sexy times on the first sniff.

The use of essential oils in beauty products and libido enhancing candles, massage oils and foods has been around for thousands of years. One reason is because our sense of smell is our most primal sense —  all due to our limbic system baby — the part of the brain that governs all emotional responses that’s triggered by our sense of smell. It’s why we spritz a perfume and it impacts us physically and emotionally (hello hot and heavy thoughts!).

Essential Oils are one of the most powerful ways to affect your mood, whether that being to relax you, excite you, reduce stress or elevate the mood – all of which are essential for getting in the mood to smooch, right?

So why aren’t you using essential oils to help you get down and dirty or spice things up in the bedroom?

We can use essential oils for our libido and sexy time in a number of different ways:

❤ Aromatically: Smelling the aroma, whether it be via a perfume or a diffuser.

❤ Topically: Absorbing the aromatic compounds from a sexy oil massage or perfume.

❤ Internally: No, we aren’t putting them in our lady parts, rather in our cooking for aphrodisiac chocolates.

It’s good to know that a low libido can also be caused from stress, lack of sleep and a multitude of other things too, so ask yourself if there’s something going on that’s preventing you mentally from feeling like you want to get down and dirty.

The best essential oils to get you in the mood and ready to bonk like an bunny:

❤ Whisper: A doTERRA exclusive blend comprised of Patchouli, Sandalwood, Rose, Vanilla, Jasmine and other essential oils. It’s a feminine and floral blend that smells like musk sticks. For when you want to feel flirty, feminine wear as a perfume, diffuse in your home or use topically with a fractionated coconut oil for full body massages.

❤ Passion: A unisex, spicy blend that is warming and exotic. Blended with Cardamom, Cinnamon, Ginger, Sandalwood and other essential oils, this blend will spice things up better than a jar of jalapeño peppers. Emotionally, the blend is for people who want to be playful and spontaneous (hello, kitchen foreplay) and to feel alive, creative and of course, passionate.

❤ Ylang Ylang: The oil of the inner child (and inner ho) has a floral scent that increases sexual desire, encourages attraction & play. It’s also a fabulous oil for inner child healing work, healing of the heart and emotional healing.

❤ Rose: The oil of divine love is a powerful healer of the heart. It’s a soft scent that reminds me of an exotic turkish delight. It allows individuals to receive divine love, to be tenderhearted and loved.

❤ Jasmine: The oil of sexual purity and balance. It can also arouse dormant passions which is perfect for those that can’t remember the last time they had a little sexy time in their life. Jasmine also supports and encourages the safety within intimate relationships too.

❤ Patchouli: Patchouli is great for those who feel like they’re ‘stuck in their head’ in the bedroom. It supports individuals to be present in their physical body and need grounding to enjoy the moment. It has a woodsy, musky smell and is a good oil for a full body massage if you’re feeling stuck in your head and are having a hard time relaxing.

❤ Sandalwood: All of the most expensive perfumes contain sandalwood due to it’s light woodsy and exotic aroma that is perfect for massages or do diffuse to set the moooddddd for some memory making.

❤ Cinnamon: A warming oil that improves circulation and blood flow. It’s warming and spicy and perfect to add to your cacao treats to eat in bed with your lover. Ginger is also another good aphrodisiac oil due to it’s warming and circulatory system supporting properties.

10 ways we can use essential oils for romance:

❤ Wearing as a perfume throughout the day. Pick ones that appeal to the scents you would normally go for. Rose, Ylang Ylang, Jasmine and Whisper have a light and floral smell, whereas Passion, Sandalwood, Cinnamon and Patchouli are more spicy and exotic – just make sure to dilute down in a roller with coconut oil.

❤ For sexy massage. Mix 1-3 drops with a carrier oil for self-massage or massage on your lover (or Tinder date, let’s be honest). My favourites for this include passion, Ylang Ylang, Whisper and Sandalwood.

❤ In your aphrodisiac treats. One of my favourite dates to have with a man is in the bath with food — seriously. Add Ginger, Cinnamon or undiluted rose oil to your cacao treats to spice things up before you get to the bedroom.

❤ As a sheet spritz. Combine 30ml of water in a spray bottle with 2-3 drops of your desired essential oil.

❤ As a luxurious bath soak. Mix 2-3 drops of your essential oil with 30ml of liquid soap, mix this through your bath water. Avoid warming oils such as Passion, Ginger and Cinnamon, you’ll want to use oils like Lavender, Rose, Ylang Ylang or Jasmine.

❤ For self-care. We don’t need a man to feel like the divine babe we are. So roll on some passion, put on your AP and dance around your living room to some thotty music.

❤ Make a body oil with sweet almond oil and a few drops of your desired essential oil. To make it Instagram-worthy, add a few pieces of rose quartz in a pretty glass bottle.

So gather your oils, put new sheets on the bed and create a spotify playlist because things are about to get hot, heavy and very oily.
