Okay babes, call me cray cray but I think it’s a bigger deal for someone to see me without my brows than see me naked? You agree?
I’ve always been brow obsessed. I remember on my 15th birthday I pleaded to my mum and dad that I NEEDED to have my eyebrows done by Sharon Lee Hamilton who was crowned the eyebrow queen in Vogue magazine. It was $50.00 and 2 hours away so it took some pleading and a few tears but I got my way in the end. I guess that will give you an idea about how serious I take my brows!
I haven’t always had good brows and due to years of over plucking they still aren’t too fabulous – I’ve just had to learn to fake them fab.
I’ve crossed paths with some amazing makeup artists and I always make a note of their technique and products they use so I could replicate this when I did them at home.
When it comes to brows I like mine quite defined but not so sharp they stand out like a beacon. I like my eyebrow game to be strong, but it shouldn’t detract from other facial features either.
Best brow maintenance tips
Plucking – I pluck my eyebrows daily after I fill them in. When you have your brows filled in, you will only pull the hairs out that are outside that shape
Cutting hairs – Sometimes I will trim hairs with nail clippers. I do one hair at a time and only on the tail end of the brow
Hire someone – If in doubt, ask a professional. Head down to your local cosmetics counter and ask for help filling them or a professional to help shape them
My favourite eyebrow products
Tweezers – I adore the tweezerman brand. I have several pairs but my favourite are with a pointed tip for precision tweezing
Nail clippers – I like the ones with a pointed end to pin point hairs
Angled brush and spoolie – You can use a clean mascara wand instead but my Rae Morris brush has this attached. With a brush you want it to be angled. The Rae Morris one is quite fine meaning you get nice clean edges. I use this with a taupe coloured eyeshadow from MAC
Crayon – MAC eyebrow crayon in lingering. It’s amazeballs for the fact you can chuck it in your handbag and you don’t need a brush or sharpener to use it
Brow gel – Currently using Ardell
