I never intended to share the behind the scenes photos from this shoot…

The whole idea was to shoot on Polaroid, handwrite an article and painstakingly scan everything along with more glitter. After seeing these photos, you might get a better idea of why I still have glitter everywhere and I’m still finding it in places that I definitely shouldn’t. Upside? I feel like a unicorn every time I go to the bathroom.

Shooting on Polaroid is completely new to me, so I called in one of my beautiful friends, Liz, to help shoot. She also shot some behind the scenes shots on a film camera, as did I on digital. I had no intentions to really use them in the original article, that was until I saw them and I knew they needed an article of their own.

My issue was my creative mood has recently been stifled from a few big things happening in my life (I can’t tell you yet, but I will soon) and the only things I keep thinking about were doughnuts and kebabs. Neither of which are applicable to this shoot.

I could be like one of those lifestyle/fashion bloggers that share a bomb shoot with an article that bears no relation to the photos. Like showcasing shoes and talking about tampons.

Except the shoot isn’t about shoes and discussing tampons seems like it would be more suited to an Instagram story of mine. Which got me thinking about how Instagram stories are really the behind the scenes of our perfectly filtered lives that feature on our Insta feeds.

And yet the stories are my favourite part of Instagram. You guys know I love to share stories with you filled with bad angles, tragic romances and life musings whilst I’m half-asleep and usually half-naked. They’re unfiltered, they’re raw and yet they’re 100% me.

And that’s why I love this shoot and the behind the scenes nature of it. There was no posing. There are tummy rolls, cellulite and mouths full of food. It’s completely natural, yet I can’t help but browse these images with a smile on my face and the memories of that fun evening with my friends.

I look at the photos and see my friends Zoe and Lisa and it’s exactly how I see them when we catch up (though we’re all usually a little more clothed!) with their little smiles, gestures and quirks all candidly captured.

The behind the scenes images shown in this shoot are like the Instagram story to that meticulously laid out Instagram feed.
