Essential oils have always been part of my life and here’s why I’m integrating them back into PB.
A few years ago I was an annoying oil-pulling, green smoothie drinking, plant-based maniac who did week-long juice fasts and my idea of fun was a health retreat.
I wanted to take the natural approach to everything.
Who needs toothpaste when you can make your own – just make sure to use a charcoal toothbrush. Why take a regular multivitamin when you can just juice the contents of your crisper. And thrush? Ain’t nobody got time for that, just stick a probiotic in your hoo-ha (Okay, please do not do this! It will just explode and make you look like you’re trying to smuggle cocaine.)
These days I’m not that way inclined, but health has always had a place in my heart and in my life. I wouldn’t have owned a Pilates studio for eight years or studied nutrition otherwise!
The juicing has gone, as has my 101 uses for probiotics, but there are still a few habits I’ve kept up.
Fasting is one of those, and mainstream media is now supporting me and has my back on the awesome health benefits that you get from cutting down the calories occasionally (PS. Remember how I lost all that weight? Fasting).
And using essential oils is another.
Without realising, essential oils have been part of my life, I just really got into them when I overhauled my health and wanted to minimise the toxins and chemicals in my life.
My mum is a herbalist and iridologist so I grew up with a concoction of natural remedies instead of the pharmacy options to fight the common cough, cold and ailment.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still very much a ‘please give me codeine’ and ‘I like expensive French chemicals’, but living a natural life taught me how I can use oils to enhance my cooking, cleaning, health and home – all on a budget, mind you!
Like using tea tree oil on a picked pimple – you don’t need that expensive spot pimple cream. I also use a specialised blend to keep headaches at bay, like the other day when food poisoning meant I couldn’t take any pain pills to zap my headache. This blend helped in under 15 minutes.
My essential oil brand of choice has always been dōTERRA. And I used to run workshops in my old Pilates studio to encourage my clients to live more naturally. I stopped doing the workshops because life got in the way. It was around the time that I started my brand Professional Babe and had the clearest vision for my future.
In my mind – and even though I still loved and used the products – I had convinced myself that the two didn’t go hand in hand and it would be conflicting with the message I wanted to convey on this blog.
Even though my day job was heavily involved in health, my online persona was one that talked about lipstick and boys. I didn’t really mention that other side of me. I’m not sure why? Maybe because I didn’t want to bring work into my hobby that was this blog.
But now my hobby blog is my full-time job, I’m still seeing a need to positively impact the health and happiness of my readers.
I confided in some girlfriends who were running dōTERRA workshops that I regret not doing them anymore, but felt people would assume I was a fraud or uneducated if I started to run them again.
So I tested the waters with two simple posts on my social media and the positive responses made me realise there is space on this blog for dōTERRA.
I will be teaching you about essential oils and sensuality. Think oils to make you want to hump like a rabbit!
There will be articles on the various oils to elevate your mood – especially for those who silently suffer with anxiety. I’m also in your boat so you’re never alone.
I’ll show you ways that you can work the oils into your food and even cocktails (Newcastle peeps – mock and cocktail class coming up).
AND I’ll feature easy ways to beautify yourself on a budget – more money for the Chanel fund.
The whole blog won’t be changing.
It’s just evolving slightly to incorporate a more holistic side to myself that my friends and family see, and incorporate the questions that you guys message me regularly.
I’m a huge believer that taking control of your health should be your number one self-care practice. That acrylic manicure definitely comes in second though! So if I can inspire you to do that, that would be incredible.
If you live in the Hunter Valley region, I’m hosting regular essential oil workshops where I can teach this to you in person. But if you’re worldwide, I’m also here to support you too.
I’ve included a link to my personal dōTERRA website and purchasing information below this article, but if you want to have a girls night with me, where we chat over wine and nibbles learning about how to incorporate these gorgeous products into your life, just holler me on my contact page.
I’d be honoured to come and have a girls night with you.
Want to get your hot little hands on some dōTERRA?
Look babe, I don’t blame you!
You can head to my website here to find more information about dōTERRA products, but I just want to say that I recommend becoming a member so you get your oils for the same price as I pay. A membership is cheaper than a mani ($35) and it means you’ll instantly save 25% on all the dōTERRA products.
You have two ways to go about this:
- You can pay the $35 membership fee which is renewed annually at a cost of $25. And dōTERRA will send you a free bottle of peppermint oil on your renewal valued at $27 when that happens. (Fab for headaches, digestion, making you feel uplifted and also giving your chocolate treats a minty kick! It’s also a nice little gift to receive for 12 months of being a member too!)
- OR you can purchase any Enrolment Kit which waives the $35 and provides you with the most popular essential oils at the best value.
Whatever option you choose, there are no minimum monthly orders or selling required. EVER.
My favourite kit – and what I recommend at my workshops – is the Home Essentials Kit. You get triple the oil of the Essential Collection kit for less than double the price of any other kit and a diffuser.
