I had CoolSculpting part one

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical procedure similar to liposuction with no downtime.

I had a procedure called coolsculpting at Renew Mediskin in the middle of last year. I considered keeping the procedure a secret, thinking back to the movie Legally Blonde and how one of the characters got lipo and was worried with her fitness career if it would ruin her credibility. I kind of thought the same.

This post will be about the procedure and will be a two part series. Expect to see a photo of my ass. And yep. I have a heap of cellulite! I’ve put on a bit of weight over the past couple of years. Priorities and values changed and work was more important than working out.

I don’t care too much because I have more to worry about in life than getting up and doing fasted cardio and sipping green smoothies. Though this has always been an area of my body that bugged me even when I was a size 6.

Keep in mind I am only at week 4 in this post and it takes 12 weeks to get the full benefit.

What is coolsculpting

Coolsculpting is basically non-invasive liposuction. There’s no down time, no incisions and minimal (if any, I had none) bruising. You can expect 20-30% fat reduction in one area and the result should be more even than lipo which can be sometimes quite difficult to end up with a smooth finish. The result takes approximately 8-12 weeks to take place and you can start seeing results after three weeks. I found I didn’t.

What it involves

After my consult I found out that I was a good candidate to have my outer thighs done – yay! So on the day of my procedure I came in and photos were taken, my weight was recorded and I filled in some information.

Depending on the area you’re getting treated it will vary how long you will be in there and the piece they use. Most of the pieces are like a vacuum that sucks your flab up into the piece and freezes it. But for the saddle bag region, the piece is strapped to your outer thigh. If you’re a bit shy it could be a bit confronting having someone all up in your business because of how they have to strap you in.

The cost

From memory I paid $1600.00 in total for both thighs. But the cost will be entirely dependant on the place you go and areas you need treated. I’ve forked out THOUSANDS on endermologie and velashape which in my opinion – did absolutely nothing.

Is it painful

For like the first 5 minutes, yes. Then your leg goes numb and it feels fine. Afterwards, the piece is removed and they have to massage and it’s a little off putting. I found the most pain was when I had to get up and start moving around. My thighs felt super sensitive and stinging like a green ant bite.

Afterwards I was fine for the first couple of days and then I started getting awful nerve pain. One thing: Don’t have a bath. At all. I found this made me soooo much worse. I practically leapt out of the bath on three occasions because it prompted shooting, stabbing pains in my legs. Yuck. This lasted for approximately 4 days.

How many sessions I had

How long does it take

Because the place I went to has one machine they can only do one thigh at a time. Each thigh took 2 hours and with the initial prep and then payment afterwards I was in the office for about 5 hours.

My before photos

+ I found I retained SO much fluid. Like heaps. It’s like there was a water theme park hiding in my thighs. Fluid retention can appear as cellulite. My cellulite got 200% worse a week after treatment. I was freaking. I will show a photo below.

+ I felt comfort in wearing tight pants. The pressure seemed to relieve the discomfort.

+ I also felt so swollen so going back to work I felt (and looked) like I had put on three kilos in such a short amount of time. I’d keep this in mind if you have any events coming up. Keep in mind results vary completely.

+ I also hurt so much I couldn’t take my markings off. So I was texta legs for about a week.

You can sort of see the patch of cellulite and then above that is my little lump of fat. As you can see the blue mark is right in the centre of it where the hand piece will be placed

The hand piece placed on my thigh. See how its strapped on. And little hungover Peta munching on a salad. The team at Renew Mediskin was very accommodating.

SO MUCH FLUID!!! A week after the procedure. Far out.

Same thigh! It’s just been taken in the mirror. Light isn’t the best but the swelling is down.
