Why I Love Lingerie

How a great fitting set of knickers has changed the way I feel about my figure.

“I can honestly say that buying lingerie that fits me well has changed the way I feel and see my figure.”

How can one possibly be in a good mood or feeling positive about their appearance if they’re constantly pulling their ill-fitting knickers out of their derriere?

And that was happening to me.

I was already a little hung up on the fact I was sitting heavier than I wanted to. So why would I be in a good mood if my underwear that was too tight was constantly reminding me of that by digging in?

As women, we’re all guilty of waiting until things are perfect. We want to wait until we’re at our goal weight to splurge on clothes, we wait until we have a special occasion to wear our favourite outfit – and yet, we’re doing exactly the same with our knickers.

One day I was in a ‘fuck-it’ kind of mood. You know the ones where you want you have cash to splash and you plan on spending it? Usually, it goes to food, though this time, I decided to browse the lingerie department of the shops instead.

I was sitting about 15kg heavier than I’d like, but I knew I couldn’t click my fingers and lose the weight – I was going to have this body for at least a few weeks (or months!), and honestly, I’m better at achieving things when I feel good in myself.

After trying on a cheap set that I wouldn’t ever be caught dead in, I picked up a patterned black mesh set by Simone Perele that was divine.

“Wait until you’re at your goal.”

“You’ll lose weight and you’ll wear it once”

“Do you really need to be spending all that money right now?”

All these thoughts were running through my head as to why I shouldn’t give in and buy the damn set and they all came back to the fact that I didn’t feel good enough and I would feel good enough when I was thin.

Such a BS way to live and yet as women, we do it on the daily. We wait until everything is perfect to treat ourselves.

I tried the set on and not only did I love the fabric and the colours, I love how it made me feel and how it made me look. It fitted to perfection and it felt as though it hugged my body, without restricting it.

And that’s the power of good lingerie.

I wore that set whenever I felt as though I needed to have a little more confidence throughout the day. Whether that was on a date or an appointment that I was particularly nervous about, the set was like my hidden superpower that no one could see.

“A good fitting bra and set of knickers helps to enhance your curves and shape. It hugs your figure without restricting, squeezing or strangling it. It lifts your chest and can your lift your bottom too – depending if you choose to buy those kind of knickers.”

Good fitting lingerie doesn’t detract from you – it enhances you. And I really do believe it’s one of the reasons that I love my figure.

I know I can go to my lingerie drawer and throw something on that makes me look and feel like a million dollars. It doesn’t matter if I’m shopping and try something on that doesn’t fit too well because I know I can catch a glimpse of my rear in the mirror and like exactly what I see.

It’s the primer to your foundation. It’s the bread to your butter. I’d go as far as saying lingerie is essential to life.

If you have the funds this week, splurge on a set that makes you feel amazing and notice the difference you feel in your body when you wear it. I promise you’ll feel like a million dollars!
