Here are 8 reasons that you should share what you love with the world.
It’s probably a thought that’s been rolling around your head for a while now.
“I should start a blog!”.
So why haven’t you?
There’s also a chance that people look up to you and you’re the go-to person on the subject for them.
Whether it’s tech, cooking, fitness or even related to dating, I’m going to tell you why I think you should start a blog today.
1. You’re already an expert
If people are constantly asking you for advice or your opinion, then they look up to you on that topic. To them, you’re the go-to person on the subject. Imagine if you started sharing your wisdom in an online platform – how many people could you reach?
2. People want to learn from you
Don’t discredit yourself because you aren’t the top in your field. You don’t need to be a Richard Branson or Oprah for people to take you seriously. People can relate to you and people trust your opinion, that’s why they’re asking you.
3. You’ll become more articulate
I never used to be a good writer. Although I would still consider myself a work in progress, I’m amazed when I read my first lot of blog posts and how I can barely string a sentence together or form a cohesive paragraph. It’s forced me to make an effort and expand my vocabulary.
4. It’s a constructive hobby
We all need a release and something aside from our day job. My hobby used to be cake. Baking cakes and of course eating them. But my waistline didn’t really appreciate it. You don’t need to invest in any money in starting it either. Bonus!
5. You could make some money
Although it shouldn’t be the only reason you’re starting your blog it is a nice motivator. There are many ways you can make money from your blog which includes advertising, sponsored posts, affiliate links and creating your own products.
6. It’s a great way to meet like-minded people
There are always blogging meet-ups, courses and conferences where you can connect with people in a similar niche. I’ve also found I’m friends with a few of my long-time readers and fellow bloggers.
7. You’ll make a difference in someone’s life
I used to think my posts were only read by my mother. But my latest letter from the editor post promoted about 20 emails from people who could relate to my situation and thanked me for my honesty. People love knowing that there’s someone out there in a similar boat. If you help them, you’ve got yourself a raving fan.
8. It’s the perfect start to building an online brand
Many people today started out with a blog or popular social platform that transformed into something else. I follow many style and cooking blogs that have seen them transform their blog into a brand. I love following their blogging journey and seeing the many exciting places it’s taken them and the opportunities it’s given them.
“Start a blog because you’re passionate. Start a blog because you want to share something. Start a blog because who knows where it will lead you.”
